Youth Experience Sponsorship

Kevin’s Baseball Experience

Kevin is one of many students we sponsor. By telling his story, we hope to inspire you to join our journey to sponsoring more youth.

A quiet child, Kevin’s zest for baseball is where some have said his education will come from. And that proved to be true. Kevin has come so far internally, academically, socially, emotionally and in sports. Throughout the year Kevin’s private baseball coach learned that his strength was what some at school teased him about, his calm demeanor. He’s a lead by example guy who asks thoughtful questions. He observes before he acts.

When Kevin came to YES, he applied for a comprehensive baseball experience, including private lessons with Kasey Olenberger and FBK1. He also applied for registration fees to play on a travel baseball club and travel to the Dominican Republic through FBK1 and Global Baseball Adventures.

This is just the beginning for Kevin. With the YES Athletic and Education Networks, we’ll support Kevin directly through sponsorships until he’s 19, not just through athletics, but education as well. Our network will be there to support him and his family beyond his direct experience sponsorship, via our Championship Network. This network focuses on Education, Arts, Athletics, and other Aspirational Endeavors students like Kevin may want to learn about and hopefully participate in.

“At the Mr. October Foundation, we are committed to empowering under-resourced communities through education and life-changing opportunities, especially in STEM and athletics. Supporting YES and seeing Kevin’s dreams of excelling in baseball while developing life skills, building character, building confidence, and building connections within our communities.  Seeing Kevin step onto the field at the farewell softball game at the Oakland Coliseum alongside Reggie Jackson and Oakland’s incredible supporters was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when communities unite to inspire and uplift youth. Together, we are proud to provide experiences that connect, empower, and transform young lives”
